The market allows the Brick staff to interact with customers and share with them how the food they buy is grown, raised or made.
This local farmers market reflects a culmination of informed choices and best practices. From selecting the seeds grown, to humane animal treatment, limiting the fossil fuel needs with clean energy, preparing recipes with choice ingredients, to educating the customer on cooking ‘snout to tail’ – we are taking some of the guesswork out of nutritious, local, sustainable shopping.
The Brick Farm Market, Double Brook Farm, and the Brick Farm Tavern have achieved a local, sustainable operation that takes food from farm to market to table and then back to the farm in the form of compost or animal feed; three entities that rely on each other to create a full-circle model of responsible food creation and consumption.
Brick Farm Groups’ mission is creating a local tight-loop enterprise that combines a fully sustainable farm, local market, and tavern.
The markets’ goal is providing the best-tasting food to our local community in the most responsible and sustainable manner.
The brick market is possibly based on three pillars of sustainability 1) the humane treatment of animals 2) local food, local employees and local community development and support 3) maintaining a sustainable energy plan.
