The Hillcrest Farmers Market is filled with over 175 vendors offering a wide variety of locally grow produce, gifts, arts and crafts, flowers, clothing, and more! Over 10,000 people a week visit the market. Many of our local farmers grow their produce organically or with no pesticides. The market also hosts a large variety of prepared and hot food items with an emphasis on international cuisine. We also host weekly entertainment performed by a variety of local musicians.
The market opened on April 13, 1997 with only 27 vendors and has continued to grow with the community. We are proud to and maintain our reputation as “The Best” Farmers Market in San Diego County!
GETTING TO THE MARKET
Visiting the Hillcrest Farmers Market is easy. The Hillcrest Farmers Market is located on Normal Street between University Ave. and Lincoln Ave.
PARKING:
Parking is free on the streets on Sunday in Hillcrest. You can park free at the California DMV property at Normal St. and Lincoln Ave. or for free at the San Diego Unified School District facility at Campus Ave. and Washington St. You can also park at the USPO parking lot on Cleveland St.
BUS:
There are a number of busses that pass right by the market. This includes the 1, 7, 10, 11, and 215 routes.
Hillcrest market loves your pooch, but its under the provisions of the California Health and Safety Code, “customers shall not bring any live animals into any food facility”.
Please do not therefore bring your dog or other pets to the Hillcrest Farmers Market. But the market makes all sorts of exceptions if you bring a guide dog, signal dog, service dog, emotional support animal, or one (or two) of those really cute little dogs in a carrier.
The market is open during the hottest times of the day. If it’s hot, please leave Fido at home.
There are recycling receptacles throughout the market. Please contribute to a healthy world by recycling at the market.
