Something to make you love Cape Town’s inner city even more: the Earth Fair Food Market. Every Thursday you‘ll find us from 12pm to 6pm at St. Georges Mall in Cape Town’s city bowl (upper St Georges Mall, off Wale Street, opposite the Cathedral).
You’ll find secure parking in Mandela Rhodes Place and there might be on the street, but why not walk from your office and have a yummy and healthy lunch?
Top quality traders and artisans sell a good selection of farm cheeses, free range meat, organic produce, olives and olive oil, biltong, preserves and pâtés. There’s also organic nuts and grains, breads, smoked fish, speciality sausages, sweet treats and more. Make sure to take a turn past the pie stall, there you‘ll find a ‘Guiness and steak pie’. Wrap up your al fresco lunch with a cup of Truth coffee. Plus, there’s live music to listen to.
Shop for the freshest produce, directly from the producers while soaking up the historic ambience of this beautiful part of town.
“In many ways it’s a return to our roots,” says Jacqui Simpson, owner of the Earth Fair Market.“ The Company Gardens originally provided fresh fruit and vegetables to passing ships and Greenmarket Square was somewhere where farmers could sell their produce. That’s why upper St. George’s Mall in the historic heart of Cape Town is the ideal location.”
The Earth Fair Food Market is based on the successful Saturday Earth Fair Market in Tokai, which has become so popular that is now also open on a Wednesday afternoon. The Earth Fair concept is one of a country market, where visitors can shop for fresh goods from local producers, building relationships with them in the process.
