Riversands Farm Village Market is a beautiful piece of land rich in history. It all started in 1947 when Granny LeMay started making her homemade chicken pies. She sold them on the side of William Nicol Drive, in those days still a dirt road. As time passed the farm grew into one of the first free range chicken farms in South Africa. It also had a dairy. As Fourways expanded over the last 15 years, people needed a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The animals moved and the face of the farm changed.
Our first event in 2001 took a journey back in time. We celebrated Medieval Times with knights on horseback jousting to win over their fair maidens. Since then we have hosted some big music events. Coke Zero Fest, Ram Fest and the 94.7 Joburg Day saw 28, 000 people enjoy the likes of Snow Patrol, Oasis, The Parletones and Prime Circle.
For outdoor and sport lovers we have hosted the XTreme Outdoor Expo. Smaller events included Easter Egg hunts for children in the forest and a Fairy Festival. The farm is also a popular venue for movies shoots due to its rich history and rural beauty.
Riversands Farm Village Market is open to the public seven days a week. There is no charge. Leave your baggage at the the gate and use the peace to recharge your batteries for the week ahead.
